It finally happened!!!

I knew this was going to happen any day soon and it finally did today!! Someone drove round the corner, took out a neighbour's mailbox two doors down from my house and landed in my immediate neighbour's ditch!! That makes it the FOURTH time one of our mailboxes have been taken out (between 3 houses..including ours) in the last TWO months!! But this is the first time anyone has crashed and been "caught in the act". This is really weird cos' nothing like this ever happened in the first 2 years we've stayed here. Only in the last 2 months. And nothing has changed in this area. Maybe just more crazy drivers? I asked the driver if he was speeding. He didn't admit to it nor did he deny it either. His answer was "I don't know. It happened so fast". In my mind, he MUST have been speeding. We don't have sharp corners here, it happened in broad daylight, the guy was sober and he was on his way to work. Needless to say, I wait till there are absolutely NO cars coming in either direction before I go get my mail now!! Some drivers...I tell ya......isn't this crazy??!!! My question is...is there something I can do besides making police reports? How can I lobby to maybe get the speed limit on my road reduced? It's currently 45mph but I know some people fly down the road 60-65mph!!!
