I have been reading a very amusing piece in the Daily Mail newspaper reflecting that there is now an antidepressant for dogs. Reconcile is a chewable and flavoured tonic which doggies enjoy, apparently. Canine separation anxiety is apparently a very common problem with dogs which some firm seem to think, as with humans, needs chemical treatment. Personally I think lots of cuddles and a circle of doggie sitters is better than any pill - for the sitters and the doggie. Here is an interesting link about canine separation anxiety, and the whole web site is very interesting too. http://www.dogwise.com/itemdetails.cfm?ID=dtb687

Trust you to find this amusing, wait until you've got a dog that pees and or destroys things when left, haha. Noo was given a plug in by the vet that apparently smells like a mummy dog and makes them feel safe when you leave them so they behave, maybe it worked a little bit, maybe... I naver leave my baby girl alone if I can help it, she goes to one of our parents, otherwise she will find mischief.

Well I have birds that destroy things, does that count? We all have to be sad sometimes and doggies get sad if we leave them alone for too long but some times it just can not be helped, My dog lived for 14 years and was as lazy as I am right from the start, so he never chewed or peed, he just slept until I got back!

I would never give Gissi anything like that as you say all they need is a lot of loving cuddles and caring and they will be just fine that goes for any Pet

I suppose if the doggies are on happy pills and their owners really do not give them enough time then at least they are happy but I would like to see more owners being made aware that a dog doesn't come with batteries, you can't turn it off. It has needs just as much as we do.
