By PETER SVENSSONNEW YORK (AP) - Without any sort of fanfare, AT&T Inc. (ATT) has started offering a broadband Internet service for $10 a month, cheaper than any advertised plan.
This is good news to some future customers I feel. To see more details read this part carefully. "The plan was not mentioned in a Friday news release about AT&T's DSL plans, and is slightly hidden on the AT&T Web site. A page describing DSL options doesn't mention it, but clicking a link for "Term contract plans" reveals it. It's also presented to customers who go into the application process, Coe said." As I dont make calls from the internet this may work for me as I use AOL dial-up now. I am going to check into this myself in the near future and hope it's avaiable in my area. (Minnesota)

I've had DSL service with Qwest since we moved into this place, but even after getting rid of the phone service (they don't tell you that you can have a DSL-only line when you subscribe!) I'm paying about $40 per month. I'd considered going with AT&T before I got this, but it wasn't available in my area. Hopefully it will be soon!

as fast as most DSLs but for this cost they would be a
lot faster than what I have with dial-up.

| 2. blackbriar (6366) | 3 years ago |  Well now that bites the big one. I just signed up for AT&T yahoo dsl not too long ago and never seen that offer anywhere on their website. I'm paying $14.99 a month for it. Tell ya one thing with dial-up, it's extremely easy to sign up for it but when time to cancel, takes forever on the phone. AOL and Peoplepc were both very bad at trying to get me to stay with them. Finally flew off the handle at Peoplepc a couple days ago and told them I'll never ever go with them again if I need to go back to dial-up and will not refer other ppl to them either and slammed the phone down on them.

 desertdarlene (5847) | 3 years ago |  Ugh, I agree with you about canceling your dial-up. Netzero was horrible! But, once I got DSL, I was hooked and I'm never going to go back to dial-up. I even have the slowest DSL and I'm very happy with it.

Desertdarlene... I used to have SBC Yahoo dial-up and they were the best dial-up I've ever had. Almost as fast as their basic dsl. Peoplepc were crappy for dial-up but it was real cheap and I knew I would be going to dsl thru my phone company in a few months after having my home phone turned back on so I stuck it out till now. | |

3.  oneandonemakesix (24038) | 3 years ago |  That would be great if we could get DSL for that price...WE had to go with cable modem as DSL is not available in my area....and Verizon didn't tell us that at first either.
They strung us along for a week after we moved in and well I quickly ended my service with verizon.....we have phone service from comcast also, so I think its a better deal than what Verizon was going ot charge me...
What joke Verizon is....can you tell I'm not happy iwth Verizon?
But I can be certain that ATT&T service will not be available in my area.
Would be nice though

I've talked to ppl that tried Verizon for other services and were not happy with them cept for the wireless provider. I love Verizon as my cell phone provider cause they have the best service in my area. I've had only 5 dropped calls in the 4yrs. I've been with them and the calls are always crystal clear. | |

| blackbriar (6366) | 3 years ago | If you have AT&T, Grandpa Bob, then DSL will definately run thru your phone line and if your lucky with the specials, you pay for the modem but get a rebate included with it to get the full amount back for it. I would also recommend you check the self-install option cause it's fairly easy to install it yourself. You do have to have a computer with ethernet capabilites thou so would want to check and make sure yours does b4 even thinking of switching to DSL. They are also great on calling me when my signal isn't strong. That happened last week and thought it was my computer being a lazy butt but then my home phone rang and I'm thinking, who the heck is calling me when noone has my home number. It was AT&T tech support calling me about the weak signal and he troubleshooted it over the phone with me. I was shocked as that never happened b4 with any service I've ever had. | |

| 6. kimlot (4368) | 3 years ago |  I would love to have anything but Comcast because they are so rude at times but we are stuck with Comcast the suppose to be high speed internet! RIGHT! My internet has never been fast or slower then it has been with Comcast. I am just lucky that we have the internet. Glad you can get a cheeper broadband like the $10.00 DSL. | webeishere (12502) | 3 years ago | Some people have I think its called VONAGE. Its a service where phone calls are placed through the internet not phone lines. So with AT&T DSL do you have to also get an ISP or is the ISP AT&T? And is it always logged on to the ISP?

Why doesn't AT&T not want their costumers to find it?
Call me "Mrs. Doubtful" but when a company releases something they are usually so proud of it and come across as you being muts if you can't see the quality of what they are selling. Susan
