While reading news accounts regarding the tragedy in Kentucky where a ride malfunctioned and a 13 year old girl lost both her feet, I came across the most interesting statement: "The Agriculture Department is responsible for inspecing amusement park rides in Kentucky" Does that seem strange to you? Would you lump amusement park rides with farmland, crops and tractors? Can you think of reasons why this would be the appropriate agency to oversee amusement rides? Thanks for your input. I think it is baffling and ill-planned.
That poor child that lost her feet!!! Oh my! I feel very sad for her. I hadn't heard. :( It does seem odd to me also that the Agriculture Department would be the people that are responsible for inspections. Who does the inspections for housing constructions? Shouldn't those be the people that would be doing the inspections? They seem like they would know if a structure is sound or not? They would know if there were issues with wiring and foundations. Not people that deal with farms and such. You pose a very good question. This might be something to point out to your Congressman.
Thanks for your reply. Always another tragedy to make us stop and think. Have a wonderful day.
