What is the Story of Choosing your Baby's Names

Baby's Name - Ever thought of naming your children...Did you based it on their astrological signs, basic poems,or are you just creative by choosing names of your ancestors and modifying it by combining relatives' names?

To share your chosen name story would be nice!

My hubby and I are adopting this August a baby boy.Since the biological Mom is due to give birth this August...for all the preparation and the like of baby's paraphernalia, we'd thought of what name is suited for him. I haven't met my hubby's relatives in the US so I didn't meet them personally to actually connect their names to our baby( to know their attributes). Last month I bought a book that was entitled "BABY'S names NOW", thinking that I might get some ideas from there. Then I came across this certain name, "GARRETT".It is a new sound to me and love it.I tried looking up for its meaning, and it says in the book the Welsh version of gentle. It's also an Irish name that's enjoying the bursts of popularity of the top 100's list.I thought since my hubby's Mom and Dad 's descendant was Irish, so I said it would be good. In historical origin Garrett was a knight and Lancelot's son who sat around King's Arthur's Round Table in Camelot. The night after choosing that name my hubby called and he liked it too...but he said it would be nice if that is the second name as in the US, their practice is that they also choose a first name.I said to him, our child might have difficulty and get confused with too many names especially when he starts schooling. He said of course he'll cope up and be a bright boy. This month, I tried squeezing my mind's creativity, and while watching the insider on the TV, the story of Cameroon Diaz and Justin Timberlake break up caught my attention. So I had adopted "Justin" as the first name, which means just, upright and righteous.Saint Justin in Christianity was the first great Christian Philosopher. Thus he was now acclaimed as the saint of Philosophers. The next day, hubby and I were talking again in the phone...he got thrilled when I said the first name. When pronounced,Justin Garrett is a great name. But in my mind, I have a better meaning. You see the name of my bay's biological Mom is TINA...So, I connected in his first name we'd chosen,J- means Jesus, U-as You, S-aved, TIN- as Tina(the biological MOM). That's the most personalized meaning significant for me as 3 months ago this poor girl was about to hand out to anybody her future child. I was glad it was me and my hubby. So GUYS what's your story in choosing your baby's name?

Most children have 2 names (some have more) but you never call them by both names, you call them by their first name & their second one is just kind of there. I didn't go in to any great depth with choosing a name, it had to be something nice & something that she wouldn't hate us for when she grew up - some names are just too out there. Our daughter's name is Lillian - which is my late grandmother's name (who i never met) & it is also the middle name of my Mum (only my Mum's middle name is spelt with 1 L). We gave her a middle name, after my partner's Nanna - Rose - i kind of regret doing that now but it's too late! I only regret it because nanna has moved in with other people & has become very rude, she also told us not to name our daughter after her since someone else had already done it which seemed a little selfish to me. Anyway, that's how Lillian Rose came to be!

My first child has two middle names. I used one of her middles names as the name of her grandmother's adopted name. I knew the first name since I was nine. The other name just made it string together nicely. Her name is Amber Alicia Karen. My youngest was more religious. She too has two middle names. We sort of thought of them after we had her. I guess it just sort of came out like we had it picked out for ages. Her name is Ashly Kristine Eden.

I love the sound of your first child's name...it is classy! And for the name Ashly, I had chosen that name 7 years ago if my hubby and I would have a female child. Nice sharing student7!
