Who makes the best Banana Split?

When we were young, we sometimes went to Dairyqueen and they made this banana split with cherries and nuts as well as the usual bananas. I felt it was the best ones and so far have never even found any that came close, not even when we went to a high-end restaurant (which was not very often.) Because of weight problems, I have not have a banana split for some time. In fact, I would not be able to finish it because I would be too full. Now what restaurant or fast food chain makes the best banana split or is it the one you make yourself?

I have never found anything that came close to a Dairyqueen banana split and no way I'd even try to make one as good. For some reason dairyqueen is the capitol of banana splits. I haven't had one in years and only because I fight a weight problem every day of my life. Oh the memories three big scoops of ice cream with a large banana sliced in half lenghwise on each side of the dish, a huge pile of pineapple on one scoop topped with a cherry, the second scoop with thick smooth tasting chocolate topped with a cherry also, and last but not least the third scoop piled high with scrumptious strawberries and topped with a cherry and after all this is done a pile of marshmellow topping decorating the masterpiece with a long spoon tucked under. All that was required was plenty of elbow room and a big belly to put it in. Those were the days my friend!!!!!! LOL

Yes Dairyqueen makes the best. I used to have one at least once a summer, but there is no Dairyqueen near where I live here. I haven't had one in years and with my weight problem, I better forget about them, but I can't.

The best banana splits I have eaten are at a small take out in my small town. It's the Bay side canteen.

I do love Banana splits. I haven't had any in the States. I know I had this delicious Lemon Meringue Pie, that was in Washington State and this taco salad in Minnesota, but no Banana Splits, just in Canada -- Vancouver, British Columbia and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

I loved Dairy Queen banana splits!! We don't have one close by, but whenever I do get to one, I always get the split! I used to work at Friendly's and theirs is pretty good too! I don't know that I've ever had a bad one...

We do not have Friendly's up here in Winnipeg, yet. I say yet because now we are getting Target and also Papa John's so it will not be long before we have Frindly's up here. When we do I will try their banana splits.

Banana Splits are something I don't eat a lot of but every once in a while, they are moreso a treat for me. When I lived up in Delaware, there was a place called Friendly's, where they served the nicest ice cream desserts as well as other food, but their banana splits were soo good. I really loved them. Down here in Alabama, there is a place here called Cammie's Old Dutch Ice Cream that I go to every so often that I get an urge for one. I go there and enjoy myself.

I have not had one for ages. When we were in Prince Edward Island, my sister-in-law treated me to an ice cream treat, but I also love pecans so I ordered the pecan sundae.

It's too bad about the weight problems, that would severely limit one's enjoyment of this wonderful invention. I myself do not care if I put on weight because I can shed the excess poundage very easily. Cheers!!

I can lose weight easily now, but when I was in my fifties after menopause, it was hard and I kept gaining. But the trouble is that I am always hungry so what is a lady to do? I do find the weight comes off now, I hank that is because I am getting older.

Ah, those memories. When we were young we often went to Dairy Queen, had a burger and fries and a milkshake. Wow it was so good. Sometimes we went for a drive after dinner in the evening and had a banana split. You are right they were the best. Now of course because at my age I have to watch my weight I don't eat fast food anymore, unless travelling and have no alternative. I have not had a banana split in about 15 years. But now that you brought it up the memories of good times and a delicious banana split flood back.

I tried making one once. It was not that good and I did not have a soft ice cream making. It's too bad that there is no DairyQueen near where I live. When I lived in Vancouver and later in Saskatoon, it was just a short walk to a DairyQueen store. We have a Mall here but is there a DairyQueen in their food court? No! Rats!!!

My favorite place to get a banana split is a little place down the road from me called Mike's Doghouse. They make some great burgers and such, along with selling a variety of ice cream treats. I enjoy their banana splits, although I usually end up sharing.

I agree, Dairy Queen makes a killer banana split, and I don't think anyone else could even come close to being as good ... Believe me I have tried, but it is never quite as good as DQ's! They also have really good blizzards! Their banana split blizzard is pretty good too! Same with their pumpkin pie blizzard which should be out soon with ThanksGiving right around the corner! Can't wait, thanks much suspenseful, now I have a mega craving for a pumpkin pie blizzard!

I haven't tried the banana split from Dairy Queen as I haven't even eaten anything from Dairy Queen yet. But if I have a chance I would. I don't even know if there's a Dairy Queen here where I live. I haven't eaten one which stands out from the rest of the banana splits I've eaten. Any restaurant or cafe/coffeeshop I go to, it seems like they all have the same taste.
