Conmputer colleges | | anyone here realise that the local computer colleges closes an eye to their students copying programming homework from each other. they will just change a few things and hand it as their own. the "school" apparently needs the money and numbers so they will not throw out these students. in the end we all end up with "computer graduates" who cannot even program in C of Basic.

SunDog (69) | 1 year ago | "C of Basic" typo eh? it suppose to be C or Basic i would guess. but that is so true. community colleges are churning out "graduates" who palgarised each other's computer program and hand it in as their own. i have seen this and also heard it talked about many times. money IS king, and who cares what graduates comes out of this cheapos colleges.

I wrote a program and handed it in and a week later my professor gave me an e because it's sort of the same as the other group. He had a program to check to see if the source code is similar or not. I was super piss when i got that. I never ever copy or cheat. I stay up late to write that program. I send it to my partner and see if he wants to add anything in it and then send it in. He send the code in. Well.... I came to see the professor right away to argue. And in the end he gave me an A. The other group didn't even came to him. I was the only one who came to him. I have no idea how we have the similar code. But isn't it possible that there are 2 minds that are alike? The program isn't too complicated and there are not many solution for it. There are only a couple of ways to do it and there are alot of students in the class. Well, all is well that's end well.^_^

sandwedge (872) | 1 year ago | yep, was. i spent 5 years after college working R&D for a company building factory machines (vision and robotics). we use C and C++ and nothing else. C is because we write our own drivers(API from the harware vendors) and C++ is to make building similar projects faster. since it was some crappy community college, i took a risk by applying to work in south east asia where the the pay is much better than back home. i have not done any programming in the last 14 years since i move up to management in multiple fields. now i am the one pestering the programmers and engineers about dateline:) related resource: risk management
