| Cheap Laptops for Students?  | | | |  I found a few good websites for students looking to purchase affordable laptops. These laptops may not be the best, but they're cheap and will get the job done.
Also, if you want to avoid the stress of Ebay, it's nice to have an alternative.
If you want a used or refurbished apple, I suggest:

Lowendmac has links that update every once in a while with sites that sell used macs.
For cheap PC laptops, I suggest trying local used computer stores. There's a slight issue at the moment with Windows Vista, as far as retail computers are concerned: I think that right now, it's better to have Windows XP, at least for another year.
In addition, I'll suggest these sites:
Overstock.com, newegg.com, and geeks.com

| |  Thanks for the suggestions. I have a question. Did you use any of these sites for purchasing a laptop or do you know someone who did? I have heard good and bad things about Macs and I don't know if I could trust a used or refurbished model. I guess I have trust issues with the idea of used anything when it comes to computers or electronics because I think if it has a history of needing repair, I could be buying into problems 'wholesale' as they say. I was actually about to post something on that re Geeks.com. Perhaps you have heard of that website? I always get excited when I see a price then I see refurbished and my smile turns upside down! I wish I had some insight from other people who have bought refurbished stuff from Geeks before. I have bought a refurbished phone once and it lasted pretty long, till the battery gave out so it's not that I don't trust all refurbished items, just that I need a company to prove to me they do not sell junk as refurbished items.
