I find that to be quite normal, there are many people who have a belief in god or providence or some kind of divine being but aren't interested in formal religion.
It's like believing in the being, but not the man made constructs surrounding god.

well, I believe in God, I do not necessarily despise religion, but I have a non denominational faith. I believe in the bible as God's Word, God the father and JEsus his son. I believe in doing as the bible says, living for God, but I do not believe that organized religion is the way to go for me. I think the bible is being interpreted by these people leading the church and religion, I chose to believe in the bible as I see it, which is exactly what is said. I chose to believe and I chose to not let someone else tell me what God wants from me.

That is completely normal, there are probably more people who believe in God but do not attend church than those who attend church, there is alot of hypocrisy in organized religion, so many people choose to stay away but still keep there belief in God or a higher power.

normal. I can believe in God (or someone above me, not really with the name God) and don't follow religion because I disagree with it. I can make my own religion and belief and still be civil of course. There are some rules that I follow because it's common sense, not because my religion says so (for example "don't kill").

I am not sure I would use the word despise but for me it gets closer every day. I don't think organized religion is all that great or great for people. It teaches them that they do not need to be accountable for their own actions. It teaches them that they don't need to think for themselves.
Some people blame video games and TV for the state of the world but I think if we are going to make a list of all the things that are not within us that are to blame for the world being so crewed up we should add organized religion to it way up there at the top. After all, they have been in business a lot longer then any TV station or video game manufacturer.
Now I am a pagan and I believe in something greater then myself. I believe that some day we will have to answer to someone greater then ourselves, even if that someone is our own higher selves. So it's not like I don't think there is a god up there. But I don't think he meant it to be like this. And if I had to imagine him, he has to be sitting up there shaking his heading saying 'What the hell!?!' a great deal.
So I guess, no I don't think it is weird at all.
