What should you do with collectibles you don't want anymore?

What would you do with your favorite dolls or collectibles if you decided that you no longer wanted them? Should you pass them along to your children, or simply give them away to strangers? Or, sell them for profit?

For me, collectibles that I am no longer collecting have been passed to my children and grandchildren...For instance, I collect Barbie Dolls...so for my sister's wedding...I gave her a antique wedding Barbie....when my granddaughter began cheerleading...I gave her a cheerleading Barbie....it was not that I wanted to stop collecting them...I just wanted to share...LOL

Oh, I am sure that your daughter will absolutely love the porcelain items that you have saved for her...the "aging" of these items should increase their financial worth and the time that you invested in saving them for her will increase the emotional worth...it is a win/win solution...
Thanks for awarding me with the best response...I appreciate it ...

I know what you mean. I used to collect all kinds of porcelain items, and had to put them into storage when my daughter started walking. Now they are safely boxxed up and I will give them to her when she is old enough to understand their importance. I think they will be more special to her because I've kept them so long.

Hang on to the ones you really love, and depending on if your kids want them and their value save them for your kids or give them away.
If I had a single collectible that was like 50 USD then I would sell it and buy some other great toys for my kids with that money; better than one single toy they might not even like :)

I would pass them along to my children, unless they told me they didn't have any interest whatsoever, in which case I would probably would sell them, not only for profit but also because I'm pretty sure that the one who buys them won't destroy them or throw them away...

This day and age I would definelty try to make a profit using the internet. Websites like ebay make it so easy to sell your own stuff.

I had an experience of collecting things that I no longer need, such as bottles of mineral water, or school papers or even photocopied materials. Among these things, photocopied materials are those that I feel difficult to let go. My belief that I can pass the board exam when I have those things that I got from my classmates' notes was so intense that I really didn't want to throw them, even if I don't have time to read them all. And then my friend told me, "Girl, you have to let them go. Just throw them all together. You'll gonna be fine." and so I did.. But then I realized that U should have passed them to those students who also need them.

I would save the ones that you have any personal ties to. Like if your grandmother gave you one, you should save that one and pass it down. Otherwise I would sell the lot on EBay, which you could probably make a very good profit.
Cheers
