Its things like this that make me so against guns

Tragedies like this happen far too often IMO...I'm all for guns and the right to own guns etc etc..and as much as I love guns (though I like sharp shiny things better) I really think that if one is goin to own guns and have children OR mentally disturbed members in the home etc etc they need to be EXTRA CAREFUL on how those weapons are stored...I ALSO think that whoever owned (illegally) this particular gun should get slapped with some serious charges....
such a tragedy!!

In my opinion what makes it worse is the mother was still in the apartment at the time of the shooting. Granted I know parents aren't able to keep a 24/7 watch on their kids without the aid of surveillance cameras positioned throughout every nook and kranny of their home, but this could have been prevented in some manner.
Depending on what the mother was doing, she could have stayed in the same room the children were playing in, heck even if she was doing something there are ways to keep children in eyesight so you know what is happening. It saddens me that stuff like this is still happening, you would think people would be wiser to the facts as time progesses, but I guess people get in the mind frame that they believe it would never happen to them or those close to them.
