Rebuilding the Neanderthal DNA Genome?

What do ya'll think about this? Is this something we should spend scientific research time and funds on? They also say we can rebuild Cave Bear and Mammoth genomes? What would be done with it? Do you think we are related to Neanderthals or are we separate species that simply out competed them?
