Have you ever taken an online course - can you learn without a real teacher?

I've been in and out of college for most of my adult life. I really like the classroom setting if the teachers are decent enough. The last courses I took, the teachers were very domineering and one-sided. Those classes I dreaded, because every idea that didn't fit into their world was attacked. Not discussed but attacked.

I'm the type that will actively participate in the classroom but only if I feel comfortable. So, for me I'll pick up on an idea and do extra research or reading. This leads well to on-line course work for my Masters.

My recommendation is classroom work is great and there should be a minimal amount required for a BS/BA degree. For Master's, it doesn't matter as much; however, Doctorate's is a different story. IMHO

Hi, dbhattji, I did not try online for learning. On online learning you can only gather information and many questions in your brain will not get answered. While learning through real teacher always help us to learn thoroughly because whatever questions you have would be cleared immediately. Learning through real teacher is real learning.
