Are CNG or LPG fuel harmful for our health?

Petrol and the unleaded pure form of petrol is very safe but now because of the hike in petrol price people are changing to LPG or CNG gas driven cars, it is cheaper but they emit bad smell - are they harmful for our health also? Should we sacrifice our health and environment to save a few bucks?
