The Kaaba is a holy place, not to be worshiped but it is where Muslims go for their pilgrimage for Hajj or Umrah. I can see how non Muslims could be confused by that. It is te same as the Catholics, they don't worship statues of Jesus or Mary (that's considered worshiping false idols) but they do pray to them.

i would like to share about my feeling with the holy place of kaba is that the holy kaba is the first worship place of god which create by the help of god the first man of the earth and first holy prophet of god hazrat adam peace be upon him.

so the purpose of creation of this place is only to perform worship of god. according to the holy quaran people who have difference of opinion with the religion of islam can not go to this place for the purpose of tourism.

the holy kaba is the holy place and whol fulfil the requirement of the islam can travel this place for the perform of umrah and hajj.

so if any person have desire to visit this place then he fulfil the condition of islam.

No doubt KAABA is a Holy place for the Muslims because it was first constructed by Prophet Abraham(pbuh)and his son Ismail.But we never worship it.It was just selected so that we can have a centralized direction to bow before one God Almighty.That is just a building it cannot do anything to us.There is also a black stone in its walls.We just kiss it because our Holy Prophet Muhammad(pbuh)had kissed it and advised us to kiss because it is from Heaven.We donot worship any Prophet,priest,angel,spirit,picture and idol because Islam is a pure Monotheistic religion and we cannot associate any partner with one God Almighty.Polytheism is the biggest and unforgivable sin,declared in the last Holy book,The Quran.
