Snack Attack

One of the things I do while on MyLot is to keep one eye on the Ebay ads as I am posting. It is mainly due to the fact that I find it interesting what some people are willing to pay for out-of-print books that I brought new. Anyway, one of the ads I saw today that was non-book related was an ad for "Snack Attack."
It is a gift basket filled with snacks. Perfect for college students the ad reads. Honestly, I think it is a touch overpriced. But looking at it, I got hungry. Hey, there were Slim Jims in there.
Anyway, it got me curious. What are the foods that my fellow MyLotters chomp down? When do they suffer their snack attacks?
Me, I like Slim Jims and Doritoes. Pizza is always good. And lots of soda. My snacking occurs between writing bouts. I get lost in my writing, and start chewing on things after I come up for air.
I think the reason I like snacking, junk food in general, is the fact that on some level it is comfort food for me. My father used to work for Boston Potatoe Chips (a company long since gone), so I ate a lot of junk food during the early (and happier) days of my childhood.
So what about you?

It seems that I have to be eating or drinking if I am sitting at the computer. I try very hard to fulfill the desire by drinking very cold water, iced coffee, tea oar any non=caloric liquids. However, eventually the munchies win me over. It seems that something that lasts a while and is crunchy works best for me. I ususally pop a bag of microwave popcorn. I use the non-buttered, low fat variety. I douse it with a variety of spices (something different each day) ranging from chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder and others!

I love snack food. I an vegetarian not vegan so sometimes I will indulge in Nachoes and Cheese. Yummmy! I love chocolate of any kind too. But for a snack I don't worry about I take 0 fat vanilla yogurt and break up a chocolate chips chewy granola bar into it. I found out I had high blood pressure and had to take better care of myself so can't eat too much junk. I lost over 60 pounds and my pressure is fine. I usually like snacking while watching movies at night. If my parent worked at any snack place I would have been huge! I love food sooo much. LOL Now I am hungry.... Thanks LOL Vicki

Yeah, the danger in this conversation is that it is going to make us all hungry.

About 35 pounds later - peanut butter (reduced fat - go figure) and seedless blackberry or hot pepper jelly. I most prefer this gourmet treat on Sunny Buns. In fact, I got up and fixed myself one right before I read this post. ~Donna

I have never heard of hot pepper jelly. Nor Sunny Buns. But it sounds interesting.

Oh, you have no idea what you are missing! Hot pepper jelly is made with hot peppers (go figure) but has enough sugar to make it both sweet and hot at the same time. You can usually find it mixed in with the gourmet jams and jellies. Sunny Buns are made by Heiner's Bakery; but Walmart carries another brand called Honey Buns or Hunny Buns or something like that. They are regular hamburger buns but a bit sweeter. Now, do you understand why I like the reduced fat peanut butter? LOL! In all honesty, though, I bought the reduced fat because I thought I could save on some calories; but found it to be a much better texture and taste than the regular - now I am eating twice as much. Good Grief, Charlie Brown! The kitchenwitch is really getting large! ~Donna

Now days it is grapes or Quaker Chocolate Granola Bites (which are so good). Along with one of those I'm usually drinking a bottle of water or a coke, although usually it is water. I would love to eat some of the ones you mentioned, but I'm trying to eat stinking healthy and I can't afford to lose focus. Although, they sell 100 calories pack Doritos now, so that wouldn't be bad.

I have heard about the escalation in price for out-of-print books through some radio talk shows that I listen to regularly. Being an avid reader, I have purchased many books in my lifetime. Just wish I had purchased more first editions. I belong to the book club of a very famous writer now, and some of his early books are being sold at a huge price. The trick to it is that they will only offer so many at that price. This drives the price up. But, on the subject of snacks while on MyLot, I will munch on anything from an apple to a sandwich and soda. I am trying to eat healthier so I don't buy very much junk food anymore.

When I was a kid, I was raised by only my dad...so junk food was the food. ha ha
Breakfast came from Winter Park Diner...lunch was either from school or the gas station's vending machine...and dinner...I don't really remember eating much besides sandwiches or something very very simple. ha ha
So, junk food is something I am used to and have learned to stay away from in my older years. ha ha
But if you wanna know what snack foods...sorry, it is junk. ha ha
Peanuts, pretzels, Cheetos, popcorn, and such.
When...mainly when I am watching TV or typing on the computer at night.
I am not much of a morning or day person...so I tend to want to eat at night. LOL

I have fig bars today. Yesterday I had a bit of pretzels. Normally a glass of ice water keeps me happy. If I am not working I might have my rum and coke. I do not mindlessly eat and therefore not many snacks are about me. If they are then they are in smaller amounts.
Happy writing!!

Right now, it's cherries. The season is so short, so we buy 2 or 3 lbs at a time and keep them nice and cold.
I alternate between fruits (healthy moments) and my current downfall, Edy's Loaded Cookies and Cream (not healthy!). Sometimes I will make some popcorn. If you don't put a lot of butter on it, popcorn is pretty good for you. It's a whole-grain food, with lots of fiber.
