OMFG I just finished watching this about an hour ago with my husband and I have to say WOW!! What a FABULOUS, moving movie!! My husband and I were discussing it afterwards (he wondered if I was ok watching it all things considered) and saying how unreal it is that I've managed to not only stay alive adn function in society, raising my kids etc etc but I also never ended up in prison etc....I most definately RECOMMEND this movie....The ONLY thing I found annoying but realize it was important to the flick is the revival preaching scenes..they were just too bloody long and so dramatic (overly so to the point tht it reminded me of that Steve Martin flick which is just hilarious)... anyone else seen this? what did you think of it?

I saw the movie and it's loosely based on Bishop T.D.Jakes book of the same name; If you have come up in a hard way, the book would be great for you. The movie itself was very good and I was mad at some of the scenes myself. but very good movie.

why were you mad at some of the scenes in the movie? I'll have to check out the book for sure I think and see what its like....In spite of the Christian base/tone which was very obvious I really did enjoy and fully related to the movie without a doubt

Yes, I've read the book AND seen the movie - both by TD Jakes. He is wonderful. It hit home and I couldn't get past the "personal" stuff that has happended to me. The movie/book are excellent however, and I recommend them both.
