I can definitely relate to your 'strong feelings' about your computer, Zinediin. They are 'most wonderful, and terrible' at the same time. Thanks for your response, and welcome to myLot.

I guess doing this type of thing is 'weird' for some people SuffocatingAngel, but I find it can be fun too, and a great stress reliever at times ... especially when 'Jaws' was gulping up everything in sight. I can relate to the 'mixing up names' part, as I do this type of thing on a regular basis, with people. Thanks for sharing, and welcome to myLot.

Thanks for your response, billabadmash. I guess 'not many' think of doing these types of things. Have you ever named your car, truck, etc.? If you look below, at 'Transdisc's response here,' you can click on the 'bear avatar' and find his discussion on naming vehicles.

I love the way you named all of the old fans in your home, mylesnarvaez. What was the name you gave them in your local language? Do you have any 'asthmatic's relatives' in your home at the moment? Thanks for your response.

asthma means "hika" in my language. asthmatic is "hikain". asthmatic's brother is "kapatid ni hikain". asthmatic's relative is "kamag-anak ni hikain".

i think the last of their relatives gave up on life last year at the old family house. :)

I have a young friend here (I think you know who I mean ... a certain 6 year old), and 'she' has some questions for you. Here they are ... Are you 'really' a bear? What do you call your sink, your soap, your bed, and your couch?

I'm so glad that you picked up on the Beverly Hillbillies reference, someonesmom -- I just knew that you would! I forgot to mention the cement pond out back, but I don't have a nickname for it. Wait! Maybe I do. When my children were younger we would swim in the cement pond and play a game called, 'The Preacher From the Black Lagoon.' Of course, it was supposed to be 'Creature from the Black Lagoon' but they had no reference for that and they thought I meant 'Preacher' since i was a preacher, I guess. One day they asked me to please, daddy, play 'preacher from the black lagoon' with us!! I couldn't stop laughing and the name stuck to this day. So I guess my cement pond is The Black Lagoon.

The couch? Grouchy. It's where the bear spends his time.

I bet your little friend can come up with a lot better names than I could on such short notice.

I can't believe that you named your couch 'after yourself.' You, grouchy ... never! I'm glad I'll be able to report to her, that you're only a bear 'sometimes.' She looked at me with such earnestness, when she asked if you 'really' are a bear. I love the way kids think, and there's just no substitute for this innocent time of their (our) lives. You've given me a tough assignment, someonesmom, especially since I made up most of that stuff. I don't have a Skipper Chipper, or a fancy dining table. Mr. Jams is appropriate, but I just made it up in honor of Jaws. I do call my remote control Flipper, but for other reasons. I do call the eye on the stove, Pokey. That one is true. I refer to cooking in the microwave as Nuking the food, but that's it. Sir Poopsalot is not the toilet, but is how I refer to one of my pets. I was trying to give your discussion a kick start, especially since so many others seemed to think it odd to name things like you suggested. I actually don't think that it's odd at all.

The tough assignment relates to your little friend.

Grouch the Couch. She may go for that.

How about Sneaky the Soap? It's always getting away from me.

The sink? That's a tough one. I'm thinking that the sink could be a wily old bear's drinking trough. Hmm. I'll have to think on that one.

Am I really a bear? I'm like a teddy bear. A good friend in time of need and comfort. Sometimes I really feel like the bear in my avatar photo. Ask your friend how that bear feels -- that ought to be revealing. I would love to hear her response to that one.

If you must, tell her that I am not a bear. After all, my claws would be too big to manipulate the keyboard. I am merely a human. No magical bear powers here. I am a man who often feels like the bear in the picture.

Hey mom hope you don't mind me jumping in here but I just had to say something! Trans you really cheered up my day yesterday with your response and for that I want to thank you. As for being a teddy bear - I couldn't agree more - very often when you have been there for me I fel reassured and comforted like a giant teddy bear has put both padded arms around me and given me a huge 'bear' hug! I know I am not alone in feeling blessed to have you as a friend, confidant and comforter - so a huge thank you and lots of love and hugs xxx

I asked your question of my young friend, and she said (with her head down, and in a small voice), that 'the bear' looks sad and scared. I suggested, maybe 'he's' hiding from something. She's a very bright little girl, and I don't mean because I think this is how 'you' perceive yourself, but just mean to say she's bright. She loved your name for your soap, and it brought a big grin to her face. By the way, not long after she arrived, she went over to the computer, and said, "Do you think your friend, the bear, answered my questions?"

Of course I don't mind you jumping in, and I second everything you've said about 'our friend, the bear.':)

Your little friends answer is how I suspected she would respond. I see different things in the bear according to my own moods. Some days he is sad and scared, some days he is simply bothered, other days he is just sleeping, and still other days he is very intent on a good game of peek a boo.

I'm glad that I was able to provide her with some entertainment. I have though of a name for the sink -- Stinky the Sinky. You can guess why.

My little friend is here, and I've told here about 'stinky the sinky,' and she loves it. She 'still' wants to know what you call 'your bed.' She's so intrigued with you, and I believe she 'really' thinks you're a bear ... wow. She asked me to 'talk to the bear.'

My bed?

I don't have a bed. We bears live in a den. It's nice and warm there.

If I had a bed, I would call it Bunky. That would be a nice bed name.

What are the names that Kaylin has for her things? I would really like to hear about that. I bet that she has some great names, just like her own, beautiful name!

ok why did you make me read trans answer - it made me laugh so much I hurt myself! I really did enjoy reading this post and I can understand why you called it Jaws! I am doing ok - still sore but when the painkillers kick in it eases to bearable for most of the time! lol First thing in the morning is awful but never mind - who needs alcohol when I get the same feeling from these medicines! lol You are a fantastic friend too sweetie and I thank you for your support and encouragement! xx

I'm so sorry, mummymo, and I certainly didn't want you to hurt yourself. It saddens me to think that you're in so much pain, and I'll continue to keep you in my prayers. Any word on that MRI yet? As you can see, 'our friend' is going to pay a return visit, so that should be 'very interesting.' My young friend is a little girl I've babysat from the time she was 8 mo. old. She's going into the first grade in the fall. Her dad's been laid off since the end of April, and because of this, so have I. I have her back for this week (anyway). She noticed 'the bear' avatar, and asked me about it, so the questions in his response are really hers. I told her he'd likely have the answers for her tomorrow. Please take care of yourself. xxx

I think your young friend (think she is the same age as Niamh - she will be 6 next month) is even funnier than trans! I hope you are having a lot of fun together! I am ok honey - really I am - it is only pain , nothing serious! I think the mri will still be weeks off yet , just have to wait - the national health service is a wonderful thing but it can be slow! She's a very precocious little girl, mummymo, and I'm more like another grandma to her, than her babysitter, at this point. She's great fun. More humourous than Transdisc, wow, and he's hard to beat too.:) I hope you recover from this pain very soon, and I can tell you're a very strong person, but still, it must be hard. Take Care.

It sounds like the two of you have a fantastic relationship honey - that must be wonderful - she is lucky to have a warm, loving, caring person like yourself around and I can tell you adore her company! I am sure everything will be sorted out soon with the pain honey - I just have to be patient though I will admit I do have my moments where I give in to it for a little while! Well about a week ago my washing machine flooded my house. I am sure you can imagine the lovely names I had for it that day lolol

Sorry to hear about your washer, and I can definitely stretch my imagination here.:) Actually mine 'gave up the ghost' last year, and it was a 2nd hand one ... who knows how old, and not worth fixing. We had to wait awhile, but actually have a brand new one now, purchased this past spring. The first new one I've ever had, so it's great. I hope you were able to get the problem with yours sorted out. Take care.
