Both are the main epic tales and mythology of Hinduism. The Bhagavad Gita (a holy book to both Buddhists and Hindus) is taken directly from the Mahabharata.
'The epics Mahabharata and Ramayana are very much religious scriptures. Their stories are deeply embedded in Hindu philosophy and serve as parables and sources of devotion for Hindus into the present day.'

I think bot of them are really-really great epic. Ramayana told us about brave and heroic struggle to conquer evil and fight for the right thing and someone that we love. Ramayana tell us about love and the power of friendship. Mahabharata is more complicated than Ramayana although the main point just the same netween them. Mahabharata told us to be strong and always growing in the world that full of tricks and lies. And how we must control our emotion in positive way. cause everything bad that we do today, will always have impact on tomorrow
