Average people retires at the age of 60 . So after that you are old enough to spend all the money you hardly earned. Some oldies don't retire at all. They tend to open a business that is less complicated and no need for a tedious routine. How about the rest . What age would you retire?

I do not about India, but here in Canada, we usually retire at sixty-five unless we take early retirement at sixty. Then you have to have enough money to live on, because the government penalizes retirees who make over a certain amount of money. I never made much money, and I was told to get my pension at the age of sixty. It is not enough and never will be as no one told me that what I got then will be for the rest of my life. I am waiting for my Old Age Security but probably will not get it because I cannot find out when my parents and my brother and I arrived in Canada.

I have never heard of a business that is not complicated or doesn't require a strict routine unless you are rich enough to hire someone to do those things for you. I would love to own my own business and wouldn't mind the long hours because it was all mine.

People who are wise enough would have saved money for rainyday (after retirement). For many, their children lookafter (especially in India) and some people as you said would have made some arrangement like part time jobs or enter into business big or small depending on their capacity to handle. But a few rely on pension amount.
