Many people in America are suffering due to lack of health care, there is no system in place controlling prices of care and medication....How many people are going without care due to lack of affordable health insurance?

I must say that I have been very fortunate (blessed!) in that I have always had healthcare coverage from my employer. However, as many know these days, even employer-provided healthcare is becoming a thing of the past. Over the years, many companies (my employer included) have reduced (or even discontinued) healthcare coverage, as costs have skyrocketed. Now, America faces serious problems because less and less people can afford the premiums for healthcare insurance. Some estimates for "uninsured Americans" puts the figure at nearly 50 million; other estimates put it around 35 million. Either estimate represents a number we should not continue to place on the taxpayers' backs. Many states are attempting to pass legislation "requiring" healthcare insurance (much as they "require" automobile insurance)...not sure how those plans will fare; only time will tell. I invite you to visit my blog with related info: http://www.w1z11dom.blogspot.com/ Scroll down to where it says "If you're going to help make me sick, you'd better be ready to help make me well, too!" Pass it on! Send it to your elected officials! It's time we take back the power.

I am currently in the midst of bad health care due to only having my state medicaid for insurance. It's the only type I can receive because I've been disabled all my life. It's hugely frustrating. The problem isn't only having no free health care, I don't have to pay for mine, the problem also involves how much the quality of care depends on economic status.

i am sorry you are having a difficult time with your insurance, I know how upsetting this can be, you need to write letters, make phone calls and get all your friends together and tell your government officials your story. The guidelines for health insurance have not been changed since the early 90's and most doctors will not accept the low payments anymore. keep your chin up and keep writing! Thanks for your response!

I'm in the process of trying to get better services. For now I don't have enough energy/brain cells to turn this into advocating on a larger scale, but if I have to I will.

Yes...it's an all-too-familiar tale, I'm afraid. -Insurance companies backing way off with their coverage...and raising premiums to boot! -Medical service providers, often unable to collect from many who are underinsured or uninsured, are forced to charge higher rates for paying customers, to offset losses. -Insurance companies, intent on maintaining their profits, continue to raise premiums to offset their losses. -More who once had insurance now join the ranks of the underinsured or uninsured...compounding the problem exponentially. I really don't know the 'magic answers' to make these issues go away, but my sense is that we need to take back the power, authority and control from the big-business profiteers. As long as "it's all about the money", it will continue to spiral upward; until only the very wealthy can afford to get sick. But, there's even more irony in THAT...because they can also afford the very best, organically certified, safely processed, all-natural and healthiest foods and beverages available, so they're less likely to become ill or diseased in the first place! I apologize for sounding off...sometimes I get too passionate about some of this stuff, because I see too much of what smells like, looks like, sounds like, feels like and tastes(?) like CORRUPTION in some of our big-businesses and even within our own Government agencies charged to protect us AGAINST such things. Anyway, for more of my 'rantings' on this, feel free to visit my blog at: http://www.w1z11dom.blogspot.com/ Scroll down to where it says: "If you're going to help make me sick, you'd better be ready to help make me well, too!" Enjoy...and best of health!
