Thanks to those of you who wished me well on my cruise. There were some requests for me to share my experiences and to share some pictures and I said that I would so here it is... I haven't dowloaded any pictures yet so that will have to come later. The cruise was really nice. We had a good time. We went to 4 ports of call (that's what they call it). We went to Grand Cayman, Belize, Honduras and Mexico. Most of our time spend in these countires was either on the beach or doing a little shopping or both. On Grand Cayman, we took a bus to the beach. They charged 4 dollars a person each way. We spend most of the day there and I did a little snorkeling. The reefs were okay, but not the best I've seen. The sand was great, the water was great, the weather was great. After we were done at the beach, my daughter wanted to go buy a "Guy Harvey" shirt. She saw the store as we were coming to shore. We walked over to the store, bought some sunglasses along the way ( I forgot to pack mine) and we picked out a shirt for her and her brother. It wasn't a tremendously exciting day, but it was pleasant and it was relaxing. I'll write some more of my experiences in different posts. I think try to cover the entire 7 days in one post would be overwhelming for me to write and too much for anyone to want to read in one sitting.

Sounds like you had a very nice time, that is great. My ex-boyfriend was from Belize, so I dreamed of going there. But everytime the opportunity arose, I would chicken out. I hear that it is pretty nice there. Glad you enjoyed yourself.

Yeah, it's almost silly. We live near the beach and when we go on a vacation we go...to the beach! lol It is my favorite way of relaxing though.

Hello Miamilady, Hubby & I really love cruises. And, am excited to hear about your adventure. I'm particularly interested in your experiences in Belize. We have friends who go there at least once per year, by air, not sea. Yet, they swear that it is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Also, if I may, what were your ports of call in Mexico? The most remarkable thing about Southern Mexico, in my experience, is the aqua colored waters. I was enchanted with the beauty of the color of the ocean there. I've never seen quite that color of water anywhere else. It's almost like it glowed with an undercurrent of da-glow green underwater. Truly remarkable! I'm so pleased to hear that your trip was both relaxing and exciting. That's what cruising is all about. So, it's wonderful that you experienced the full range. Please don't think that you'll be boring us with the details. Also, Grand Cayman is on our list of a future cruise, so if you found any particularly wonderful restaurants, or excursions, please do share. Personal recommendation always far surpasses marketing brochures. Thanks in advance, and again -- welcome back!

We did almost all of our dining on the ship, so I can't really recomend any restaurants. We spent the day on the beach. We were taken to a little beach. It was a resort, I suppose. I didn't catch the name, we just got on a bus where we came ashore and they took us to this resort. There was a small restaurant and a little shop that sold items like sunscreen, sunglasses and souveniers. The lady running the shop was actually American or was orginally from America. I asked her because she didn't have an island accent. In Mexico we went to Costa Maya. I thought it was a city or town. I just did a search to make sure I was remembering the name right and it turns out Costa Maya is a resort within a town. There we got off the ship and walked to a market area with stores and a bar, a saltwater pool and a restaurant. The pool was next to a beachfront. We didn't go down the beach that day, we hung around by the pool. The pool was between the restaurant and the bar and we had a table right up against the pool. There was a wet bar and plenty of music. I have to say that cruising isn't the best way to explore a country or island in depth. You get part of a day to do your exploring so you don't get to know a place all that well.

The next cruise we take is a Caribbean cruise. I would not go for the snorkling though but the other stuff has me drooling!! We went on an Alaskan Cruise and have not posted any pictures yet, but we had a wonderful time. My husband loved it so much he says we might not have to wait two and a half years for another cruise. This time, we're going south. I'll have to catch up on my Spanish. I can understand a bit, but speaking is another matter. And isn't it nice getting waited on hand and food? And having to do no dishes, or making the bed and trying all those fabulous dishes that you only see on the food network and at fancy restaurants? Wow!!!!

Yeah, I think no cooking or cleaning is the best part of a cruise. lol The Alaskan cruise sounds amazing. I'd like to do that one day.

Snorkeling is fairly simple. I'm not the strongest swimmer in the world, but snorkeling is basically floating on your stomach, kicking once in a while and being able to breath through your mouth. If you want to be adventurous, you can dive down to get a closer look then you have to blow the water out of your snorkel before you can inhale again. I've done it, but didn't do it on this trip. It had been a while since I'd snorkeled. I was being cautious.

Sounds like a good start to a vacation. Kids can make it so new even though it is a trip that is new for us. Their enthusiasm is wonderful. Thanks for sharing it and welcome home. Looking forward to the pictures. Take care!

Your post brought back memories of our cruise. We went at the end of April and I just got my pictures posted for everything that went with us. We went to Grand Cayman and Belize also, but our other two stops were Costa Maya and Cozumel. It was a blast!! I can't wait for our next one! I want to do Alaska, but my friends all want to do Mexico. I'm hoping to be able to go next summer, but we'll have to see.

Those were the ports I visited during a cruise last October. Actually, the Mexico (Costa Maya) stop was canceled due to rough weather. Grand Cayman was a blast because I got to visit Stingray City, where you get in the water and feed the stingrays that swim around you. I wanted to do snorkeling afterwards, but I had accidentally swallowed a bunch of sea water and became sick. I recovered enough to have lunch and a few drinks later at Senor Frogs, though.
