| immediate post surgery | | | | I am a roux-en-y patient 2 years out and have been very successful with great results and no complications, however, my best friend just had the surgery on July 12th (5days ago) and is still in the hospital. She had lapriscopic surgery and came out very well the first day, drinking water and some walking. the next morning everything changed and she could't keep the water down. She felt fine but couldn't keep anything down. Dr. had to go back in and put a couple of staples in the intestine just below the stomach to hold a flap or fold up that was falling over. all went well and seemed okay and then again, she stared it all over. This a.m. they did an upper GI without contrast and could see that the liquid will go down at the rate of about 20 percent. They seem to think this might be due to the swelling there after the second surgery. Has anyone ever had this or know anything about it? How long does the swelling last. Will she still have to have another surgery? what is the time she will have to stay on the i.v.'s? Can she go home with them or stay in the hospital untill all is better? She is feeling good , just waiting for the Dr. to make a decision as to what to do. please let me know what you may know about this. Thanks, Tammie | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
