Walmart Job Opportunities | | Ok, I have worked at 2 walmarts in the past, one was a super walmart that ofcourse was open 24hours a day, and the other was just a regular walmart that closed at like 10-11pm. Both weren't what I had expected them to be and was just wondering if anyone else felt the same about working for walmart as I do. The pay isn't as well as it should be in some areas and the customer server is kinda getting bad as well.

I have seen this done a few times in the stores around me where other manager trainees come in the store, and an actual manager shows them around the store as to what needs to be done and what is to be done by them and the requirements of the store. You won't jump right up to manager right off the bat, but you can choose a lower level to start out as and work your behind off to gain ground very quickly. Unless you have the required educational level upon entry to a certain level position.

friendship (1248) | 3 years ago | Thanks for your response and welcome to myLot! I believe that you'll like participating here. I have joined myLot since 7 months ago. I think myLot is better than other paid sites. If you have any question regarding myLot, please let me know. I am sending a friend request. Hopefully, it is okay with you.
By the way, I hold a Master Degree and have had work experience in business. Of course, I do understand your comment that someone has to learn their business first. How long is usually the training? What do you like or dislike working at Walmart? Do people who are currently working at Walmart have to work at the stores first?

| | | 3. Syele_ (7) | 3 years ago | I have worked at Walmart for about 8 months. Friday will be my last day. The management at the one I work at is absolutely horrid. I don't know if they are all this way but it was bad from the start. The first department I worked in (ICS) I had 5 managers telling me what to do and none of them gave instructions that agreed or were even compatible. For example, in one week I was instructed, "Always go to lunch at 3 no matter what." "Always go to lunch at 4 no matter what." "NEVER go to lunch until the truck is unloaded." "Always go to lunch BEFORE you unload the truck." and last but not least "You MUST go to lunch in the middle of the truck being unloaded, right when the Dept. managers come to help." When I confronted them about the conflict, each of them said "Ignore the others, do what*I* say." Right. Escalating to the next level of their "open door policy" got me a long speech on how I need to be more understanding about managers who have different points of view, Respecting diversity, and some other stuff that really sounded like he memorized it from an online rant generator or something.
That was just one thing, everything was like that from beginning to end. Managers yell at the associates in front of customers. The last straw was when they demoted me with no warning. I got several stories on why but none made sense except maybe the one told to me by a random person.. the manager's daughter wanted my job.
The associates were too demoralized from being yelled at and getting moved departments (and pay rates) randomly to be effective at customer service.
I don't know if other walmarts are like this or not.

AxranraRose82 (651) | 3 years ago | well congrats on getting the heck out of there! How is that right that YOU get a lecture on needed to respect different points of view? Those were NOT points of view- those were FIVE completely DIFFERENT, contradicting, specific instructions from 5 different managers. How are you supposed to respect that? How would you be able to accomplish what they were, not asking, but demanding, of you?
I only shop at Walmart when no other store near me has what I need or I know that an exact equal product is significantly cheaper there. I hate walmart and stay as far away as possible!!

| Syele_ (7) | 3 years ago | I am so glad to be out of there! it's like a huge weight lifted off me.
They were actually pretty funny when dealing with me leaving... "Well, we cant understand why you'd leave such a GREAT job!" and "If you change your mind you can come back without reapplying if it's less than a month away."
I wonder what sort of hole hey live in?
