I asked a question earlier if I was suffering from an ear infection...

Most said they thought I was suffering from TMJ. I just read up on this, and I seen one of the causes was teeth grinding. I tend to grind my teeth all the time. I am scared now, is there a cure for this disease, or will I have to suffer from the pain forever? It has been getting worse day by day, and it hurts when I chew and yawn. Those who know what TMJ is, please tell me is there a cure? If so, will it be costly, because I cannot afford a costly doctor bill. Advice please.

There is a fitted special mouthpiece that a dentist can make for you. i just happened to come across the website one day and the doctor called me back and talked to me about it. I think he is in texas or something. But I am sure there are others that can do it you just have to look around. So from reading up on it, do you think that is what it is?

There are things you can do. But you need to see a dentist or orthodontis for a diagnosis and referral. There is also another way to treat it thought works well for many - cranial manipulation by an qualified osteopath. Not all Osteopaths do manipulation and not all of those are qualified for cranial manipulation. It is painless, so don't fear it. I've had it done and it has helped me. I wish I'd known about it before I had TMJ surgery!

Hi Jennifer, I grind my teeth mostly when I am sleeping. I started getting these intense pains in my jaws and face. I could barely eat. The doctor told me robaxaset for the muscle pain in the jaw and to use a mouth guard while I sleep. It does help me. I don't know about TMJ though... Good luck. From my experience mouth pain is worse that childbirth (at least I got a kid out of it)LOL Take Care! Vicki
