What Bible version (CD, online, or software included) is your favorite one?

I love reading the Bible! The reason is, it is truly God's Word. I especially like reading the King James Version (KJV), the Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) to get some Jewish perspective, and I also read the New International Version (NIV) sometimes. I also use a program called e-sword which is free (donations are accepted by the developer, and he deserves it!). My e-sword program has about 30 or so translations on it (so I can compare and get further insight), as well as numerous commentaries, Bible dictionaries, word study helps (like Strong's, Thayer's, or Brown, Driver, and Briggs' New and Old Testament Word studies), Bible maps, and a lot of other resources. I can sit at my computer with my Bible and look up words in e-sword, or get clarification from varying commentaries and Bible helps if I need it. So, if you read the Bible, which version is your favorite?

My favorite version is the King James Version. I do use e-sword and right now I am trying out the new versions of the King James Version and also have a Greek and KJV New Testament on my desktop. However, I need to learn how to decipher Greek, the alphabet is a little strange. I already have besides the King James Version, the Message*which I do not like, the Revised Standard Version, the NIV, and the German version (it was my father=in=laws'). I have a concordance which I use quite a bit. I do prefer Strongs as a reference though.

I'm glad you're reading the Bible. You should download more versions from e-sword, as well as commentaries, Strongs, Thayer, and BDB Hebrew and Greek word studies. They are a LOT easier to use than the books (they're so bulky!). I do prefer Strongs over the others, too, as Thayers seems to be based on some of the "older manuscripts," some of which are the Dead Sea Scrolls, and they are not accurate (I know, we used them to comparison translate in Hebrew II class years ago.

I don't like "the Message" at all. The translator has "gutted the Bible" with that paraphrase. I would also caution you to steer away from the RSV. I used it years ago, but I think it has some problems (based on spurious old manuscripts, also). The German is probably similar to the KJV, huh? Do you read German?
