i've become addicted to pride and prejudice. i've been rereading the book and watching the movie so often that i'm starting to memorize the lines. i've been wondering though, what were the occupations of the people at that time? they all seem to have just stayed at home, made visits, wrote letters and did nothing else. what was the source of income of people at that time?

i love both version too.it is always my favorate. the question is quite good. i wonder perhaps at that era, people are much fond of droping around, chatting, playing card,or other games. they always have parties to join...and if they were indoors, reading, gardening, chatting, walking perhaps are their favorate. i don't think females at that era have particular jobs, all they want most is finding a perfect bechelor to marry. and as for their income, i guess mostly from their inherited property.

i don't think guys have nothing to do in terms of income.i think they commonly have their jobs, like in the church, as a lawyer, an official...and of course, they are the main lawful heirs to inherit property.
