Spiced rum in Sangria? That is crazy talk!

I love sangria. Unfortunately it is not served in as many bars pubs in Toronto as it is in the States. I had never even tried it before I went to the States for school. I thought I lucked out when I moved to downtown Toronto and I found out the pub across the street serves sangria on their patio. When I tasted it, though it had a sweet spicy flavour that was pretty yucky. I am thinking spiced rum. Who ever heard of spiced rum in Sangria. It is practically sacrilege! :S
