Am I A Dying Breed?  

I hate watching them too. I love playing them but for some reason watching just bores me. But my husband is the weird one. He doesn't like watching them at all. So I don't feel so bad because he doesn't watch them either. The only thing i can stomach is Fastpitch, Softball. I LOVE watching that. It brings back memories of playing when I was young. But I agree with you. I don't like watching them.

I think it depends on what teams you are watching. Some have a knack for more excitement than not and others are sleepy teams. Meaning they will bore you to death. I think you have to like the particular sport first of all.

I love sports and always have. I played right from primary school level right up to representing Wellington or regional netball teams in several different age groups. I liked playing the games but hated training.
My family grew up in sports mostly basketball, netball, soccer, volleyball and watching rugby. Total Rugby fans and would stay up early hours of the morning just to catch a game. I stopped playing them 3 years ago when I ruptured my archilles tendon.
I have already been to an NBA game and to see The Globetrotters as well as one baseball game and just loved the atmosphere (even though we were in the cheap seats). I get right into it along with the crowd, yelling, screaming, doing the wave - it's so much fun.
Now and then I like watching tennis especially when Serena William plays and the occasional golf game, watching Tiger Woods play. My hubby is a golf and basketball fanatic so we are forever watching these two sports.

The days of women being passive towards watching sports are over with.

I you were ever to go in a sports bar on a Sunday afternoon during football season, I'd say that women would make up 30 to 40 percent of the people there.

It's also like that when I go to watch the Philadelphia 76er's play basketball. There a large percentage of females there who are into it just as much as the men.

I know you and others have said that watching sports on television is boring. To me, there is nothing boring about Sunday Nation Football League games. I watch all three games every week.

I have never cared to much for watching sports myself they are really boring to me.I use to like to play baseball when I was younger with my neighbors on the weekend sometimes but I have never cared to watch it on tv or anything.

I really hate watching sports on the telly. I was lucky enough to marry someone that doesn't watch it either. I like watching formula 1 or equestrian shows but that is about it. I couldn't even call my brother on the phone if there was a game on. I don't even like playing sports. I always cut gym classes when I was younger as it just wasn't my thing.
If there is a motorbike race on then my hubby might watch it, but he won't be glued to the set.

Rozie I am with you I cannot watch sports on TV. I do like to go see a professional game. I tend to watch the people and eat the good food instead of watch the game. Hahaha
I hate to watch football on TV, I cannot stand all the background noise, and the stupid things the announcers say. Now why can't they get announcers who can say some intelligent things? I guess the masses do not want to hear it.
I also do not like how much pro plays earn. They play sports, they are not hero's they do not save lives, they do not fight for our counrty I feel they do not have an important job. I know their jobs are important to them and their fans, but lets be real, it is the Dr's and nurses, fire fire fighters, police who do the real work in this country so they should get the big million dollar pay checks.

You are not alone. I'm a Brit and the men over there are usually football/soccer nuts. I just don't get it. Why watch a bunch of doofuses kick a ball away from themselves and then try to get it again on a muddy field in the freezing rain?

I am with you, I think it is really boring to watch sports on TV. My husband and son love to, but I usually work on crafts or go shopping or something when they are watching a sport on TV. I don't even follow the teams or the members of the teams, and my son thinks I am crazy! I have a lot of female friends that enjoy watching them, too, but it is just not my cup of tea!

All I can say is I am so thankful that I married a man that does not watch any type of sports! We have been married 12 years and I can remember watching the last hockey game of the season maybe 2 or 3 times! I don't know what I would do if I married someone that thought sports was the most important thing in life as it seems some men are? Both my daughters enjoy watching hockey and get right into the cherring for their team.
