The other day when I got on the bus and went to sit down, I saw a nice casual looking wallet on the seat and I panicked a little. I kind of peaked in to see that the wallet was not trash and that someone had lost something valuable. I hurried up to the front of the bus and gave it to the bus driver and told him that I had found it. I don't know if there was a name in there or even if there was any money in there. I did not care. All I knew was that if it were me, I would want my property back. I had the chance to experience being in that persons shoes first hand. When I got robbed at gunpoint in 2001, this guy took my whole wallet. I had $150.00 in cash in there and all my identification, social security card, and everything important was in there. A little while after I got home and reported it to the police and calmed down, a man walked up to the house and knocked. He was returning my wallet that he had found in the street. I was so grateful and happy that he had took the time to return it. He could have picked it up, saw that there was no money in it and threw it back down. Or worse yet, he could have used my personal information for something crooked.

The last thing I've really had a chance to do that would be considered a good deed was a few days ago, my husband and I helped two elderly ladies in Wal-Mart with their shopping. They couldn't lift heavy stuff, so we helped them with all the heavy things and carried their bags to the car. It is always nice to help people out. I can't beleive you got robbed! How awful. I'm glad you were okay. It is wonderful that the man returned your wallet.:) Were the police able to find the person who took your wallet?

Helping people in need is a very good deed. God puts us in a place where we can be helpful to others. The robbery marked a turning point in my life. I had been living with my sister for three years. The robbery took place right around the corner from her house. A few days after that I moved away from there. I came back again for nine months a while later, but I don't ever want to live in that neighborhood again. It also taught me to be more aware of the people around me. Normally, I take care of my business and go on home. People will chat with me, but I never paid them much attention. Not only had this guy been watching me for a while, he had spoke to me at least a couple of times before. He was familiar with my routine and I never gave him a second thought. The last time I spoke to the police about it, they were saying that they had some idea of who the guy was.

My dad attacked me a while back and my husband pulled up right before I got punched in the face. I think that was my turning point. It was a blessing that my husband came home when he did. It's a shame we have to be so cautious in this day and age.

Good girl I am proud of you. I have not been out of the house to do any good deeds here lately except to share extra veggies from my mini garden. Why keep them if we cannot eat them.

Any amount of giving is a very good deed. You would be surprised at how many good deeds you can do without ever leaving your home.

OMG gunpoint? so sorry to hear that Rozie - that would of freaked me out bigtime!!! I hope you were ok!!! When my son and I were catching the bus home not too long ago, an older lady approached us and seemed very upset. She said she had lost her wallet and had no money to go home. She asked if she could borrow a couple of dollars and even though I had 2x $1 notes and a $5 note, I gave her my $5 note. I felt sorry for her and she was relieved that she was able to get home. I just hope she was able to find her wallet. I also know what it is like to have lost your purse with all your personal items in it and the thought of other people going through it and using it scares me too.
