Did you wear your wedding ring when you were pregnant?

When I was pregnant, my fingers would swell up so bad that I had to take off my wedding/engagement rings. And, so I rarely wore them even in public. I was never really concerned what anyone would think about me. I was too fat and cranky to really care! And, even if someone was talking behind my back, I didn't notice it. So, did anyone else have to take off their rings during pregnancy? What kind of reaction did you get when you went out into public without wearing a ring?

I wore mine on a chain around my neck, along with a ring my best friend gave me, since those were the three rings that I always wore. =) I did sometimes have customers of mine notice that I wasn't wearing my wedding rings, and since my fingers started swelling before I was even showing, many people didn't know I was pregnant yet. I kept holding up the chain and saying "They just don't fit". I found that more of the college kids that come into the bank where I worked hit on me for a while, which stopped once I started showing. =P

I got that reaction sometimes, too! It was so funny. I never had a problem with guys hitting on me until I got pregnant, then I had to beat them off with a stick. Maybe it was the ring thing that did the trick. Anyway, funny story. When I was about seven months pregnant I went to this local craft store. So, I was looking at some stuff and my big belly was hidden by the stacks of fabric. And, I noticed this older guy kept giving me the eye-ball from twenty feet away. It was totally obvious. I pretended not to notice him and subtly moved out from behind the fabric stack and turned sideways so that he could get a good look at my enormous belly. He moved off very quickly! I think he tripped over some stuff in his hurry to get the heck away from me and my unborn spawn. I nearly LMAO! Guys are so funny. Give them the chance at responsibility and they run scared.

I don't have this problem. As I don't wear the wedding ring all the time except for my wedding day. I don't think it's safe to wear it outside. Besides, I am a person who is not interested in jewelry. I don't wear the wedding ring doesn't mean that I am single, I always remind others that I'm already married:)

That's a really good point! I am always talking about my spouse and child, so even if I don't always remember to wear my ring, noone mistakes that for availability. I'm very happy with my home-life. Don't plan on doing anything to mess that up, ring or no ring.

My fingers started swelling up pretty early in my pregnancy. My husband just bought me a really pretty birthstone ring for my birthday (I was about 15 weeks along when my birthday rolled around). He's pretty sweet about things like that. He wanted to make sure I still had a ring to wear, and he wanted it to be different than the ones he had bought for me previously. I wouldn't have cared if anyone talked about me behind my back anyway, though. The women from my mother in law's church were trying to convince her that the baby wasn't even my husband's while I was pregnant. They said it was too convenient that I got pregnant right away after we got married, and that I was already pregnant with someone else's. Compared to all those rumors, I wouldn't have minded a bit if someone up here didn't think I was married.

It is so terrible that people would say such mean things behind your back. I hope she did not believe them.

Surprisingly I didn't. I actually wore it all the way through. My body swelled up, legs and all but surprisingly enough my rings were ok, even though I did swell a little. They are actually a little loose on me so that's probably why!

I can empathise totally with that situation - I was terribly swollen from an early stage in both my pregnancies! With my eldest (from a previous marriage) I had to remove my rings and keep them off for the whole time (it was a sign really lol) With my youngest I tried my best to keep my engagement ring on and eventually it burst! There is commitment for you! As for whether people talked about it - I don't think so - and if they did it was their problem not mine! xxxx

Hello beautyqueen26, I am very lucky that I didn't 'swell up' that much. I wore my wedding ring when I was pregnant. Just that, I need to make a little 'amendment' . I don't know whether it could be accepted or not but I have to wear my wedding ring on another finger *smile*

Oh, I wish my poor swollen fingers had allowed for that one. That would have been the thing to do! LOL! :)

I've never been pregnant but this did remind me of something. My mother has systemic lupus which has been in remission for years. When she was really ill she had swelling, and could not wear her wedding ring.

My hands really swelled bad whiile I was pregnant with my daughter. So my hubby and I got a different ring that did fit and it was thick with a tribal design. We got the same matching one and wore that on our wedding finger as I got mine in a BIG size. Now it is a thumb ring on me, and even as a thumb ring it is still a little too big lol.
