David Beckham made his much anticipated debut for LA Galaxy a few hours ago, coming on as a sub in the friendly game against Chelsea.
Do you think Beckham will be a success or a FLOP in America soccer?
His annual pay (soccer plus advertising) is estimated to be about US$50million!
Who earns that kind of money? Even Presidents of countries don't earn that much.
Some guys just have all the luck!

did he actually get on the field and play? i watched the game for a while and the annoucers were saying that it was doubtful he would play due to some ankle injury (?) so i ended up changing the channel.

Oh you missed the historical moment. Yes, Beckham came on in the 75th minute or so. It took him about 5 mins to make his first touch. All in all, it was a stroll in the park for him, and I dare to say he did not touch the ball more than 15 times!

dang it! lol..figures i would change the channel too soon!
i do hope that he is able to live up to the "hype" thats being said about him. from the little ive heard about him, he seems like a good, honest and caring guy.
and like the person stated below...hopefully his presence will increase the amount of ppl interested in soccer here in the US..we have a lot of little kids that play, but they lose interest after they reach their teenage years for the most part.

Well it was flop, but not just that he brought so much but the americans expected to much.
It's been good, aswell as bad.
Football in american is like a pub league and our newspapers took note of that. I think he'll bring the level up a league, if they focus on getting better players over there too.
Just hopefully they don't distroy the balance of american players,

I hope he'll be a success. I very much appreciate his attitude of wanting to help the game grow here in the US.
