I like to buy them educational toys.

Yes!I want those educational toys like playing blocks, a clock toy, etc. I also want to buy them books especially my niece she wants books than toys.

Since I have no kids of my own, my nephews and nieces are my pride and joy. From Day 1, we gave more importance to things that would stimulate their minds, so it was books and educational toys -- blocks, puzzles, etc. And this tact has worked wonders. They think differently from other kids their age. Now, even when the boys are just learning how to read, they take the effort to read even difficult words. One thing we are firm about is buying them toy guns. We've got enough violence in this world that the more we can avoid introducing them to things that could hurt others, the better.

I don't have any kids, but, when I buy for other people's kids, I usually try to buy toys/gifts that encourage imagination and creativity.

That doesn't mean that gifts have to be arts and crafts (though many are) but just the kinds of gifts that provide simple fun such as books, bubble-blowing solution, crayons, construction paper, notebooks/journals, paints, disposable cameras, magnifying glasses, puzzles, etc.

I also buy gifts that are just fun to nurture such as dolls and stuffed toys.
