I couldn't believe this!

I heard this on the radio today and I was so confused, and then kinda pissed.

So this women had a broken leg, and a broken arm, she had a handicap sign on her dash so that she could park in the handicap spot. As she was hobbling to her car a policeman was watching her then he came over and gave her a ticket for parking in a handicap spot, even though she had a sign given to her by her doctor. The police officer said he gave her a ticket because they need those spots for people with wheelchairs. (who don't have to walk, they ride, I'm just pointing out a fact, don't hate me)

If that were me, I'd contest it. There isn't anyway I'm going to honor a ticket for stupidity of that police officer. I'd take it to court. Just walking into the courtroom it would be thrown out.

I'm sure it's going to be thrown out... I did forget to add that after they told us this story a nurse called and said that doctors are not suppose to give those tags out to anyone who is not actually handicap, pretty much you have to be permanently disabled to get one.

If you have a handicapped sticker or placard issued by your doctor then you are allowed to use those parking spaces. My husband is not in a wheel chair and he has a placard to prove he has a hard time walking great distances. I believe the officer is wrong. I think it is against the law for him to do that..I have never heard of this before. We don't always park in a handicapped zone either, because we feel someone else may need it more.

I keep telling my mother to see if she can get one, she has no cartilage in her knees and it's hard for her to walk, but she feels that she can walk so she doesn't' need one yet. I would agree if I could walk I would keep them open, unless there isn't a parking spot somewhat close to the store.

She should get one, but she is probably trying to stay independent. I would rather see a wheel chair person use them, but they are not just for them.
