We've all done it....

We've all taken our kids to the park. We all know they love to swing, in any position they can. I know that I've always stopped my kids from standing on the swings, but I'm guilty of letting them swing on their bellies, as I'm sure a lot of us are. Last night, my friend took her daughter to the park. (Her daughter, incidentally, is my neice). Like any other kid, she had to try swinging on her belly. My niece fell off the swing and landed smack on her face. The entire left side of her face is what looks like road rash and so swollen, her nose is swollen. My seven year old niece now has to wear a neck brace. She injured her neck due to the way she landed. Luckily, nothing was broken. I just wanted to share what happened. I'm sure it was a freak accident, but I know I won't be letting my kids swing on their bellies every again.

oh that's sad...we used to swing as high as we could and jump off the swings, I'm surprised no on one got hurt. One of my friends did fall off the tall slide at school and broke her arm.

Back when I was young, they did not have those canvas swings, they had wooden ones. The danger there was that the kid would fall off the swing and since there was usually a concrete platform under it, the kid might get killed. I used to try to swing as high as I could. Luckily I alway held the ropes tight. I also can see that the canvas swing has its own dangers.

so sad to hear that...my little boy enjoyed a lot in the park where he slides, swings and play whatever he wants...but I always tell him no to do the things that he can't control...good he's a bit afraid of high slides...so nothing to worry at all.
