Anyone heard the Jim Dale audio book?  

LOL. I have never seen anyone over 100 without a star either. I have seen a lot of 2s &1s but never have I seen anyone without a star over 100.

What did you do to not get one Lucy?

Yes, audio books are great for people who are blind, visually impaired, or dyslexic. I think others should read the book themselves, but for those who can't, it's good audio books like this, that are read well, are available to them. Otherwise they might not be able to keep up with current reading trends.

I mean, this is a READING forum.
I agree, this would be a good suggestion for those listed above, but not here, when all of us can obviously read.

I am dyslexic and running for President of the United States, But I am not going to let someone read everything for me.

Not every one on mylot can read! thats no crapp, nor can they understand the content of what they are reading,The lack of proper word usage does not seem to stand in there way either. If mylot is a sampling of american education we all better put some prayer rugs in layaway.

My brother has a blind friend who hears everything on the internet; whatever site he is on. BUt I do not see why a statement of disagreement should be deleted and I don't condone someone having it deleted.

I didn't name the discussion that because Jim Dale isn't the author and saying "Jim Dale's new book" implies that he is. But I too prefer reading and feel it's better for the mind than audio books. I have to admit I usually fall asleep listening to audio books, but not reading. I only use them because I can't read much anymore due to visual impairments that will get worse over time.

I agree that reading takes much more imagination than listening to an audio book, much like reading vs. watching a movie. But for those of us who can't read anymore, audio books will have to do.

I can't scratch my face because I see badly enough that it needs to be practically one with the screen anymore. But thanks for the warning LOL! I did apologize for that comment, and I meant it too.

I used to enjoy reading more than anything! But my vision has worsened a lot in the past few years, and now I can barely see enough to read. I'm getting used to it, but I do miss reading. I've been forced to use all audio books, whether I like it or not. (My apologies for my first comment! There was no excuse for it. I guess it just rubbed me the wrong way. I hope you will all forgive me.) Thanks for the responses.

I have poor vision as well, Lucy. . .I think it's great they have these audio books as a lot of us may need them some day.

lucey while I think it is good that you apologise here I really feel it would seem more genuine if you posted it somewhere more relevant! You also owe an apology to another very well liked and imaginative user who you were very rude to the other day! I have to say to you that I have never in 6 months seen a new user who has no star after 100 posts and have such a low rating - in fact I have never seen anyone with such a low rating! I don't know why you have been so rude at least twice but I would suggest you try and apologise to both these people! Both Jimbo and Alfie are wonderful people who have many friends who love them because of their posts, responses and wonderful personalities! I would definitely say that you owe at least two apologies and then perhaps you should think before you hit the submit button! xxx

I jump on jimbo all the time, thats what he is good for, he brings out the stupid in me. and alphy I kicked him off my friends list for for being so base and blantantly crude and uncouth. Don't worry about it most of these people just need a good enema and thier eyes will shine again.

I do not jump in to discussions with barbed nasty comments. i do not continualy drone on about the lack of intelligence with in mylot and then try to make out that i am super intelligent while ,in fact, you give no imput of any substance in mylot.

And i do not take childish huffs and delete friends if i do not agree with them. you requested me , not the other way about!

I agree and everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone is entitled to fight their opinion in discussion.And you do not have to be 18 to have an opinion,everyone is entitled.

Harry Potter books are not just for children,matter of fact I read them,not my daughter.She is 10 and does not understand some big words in there.You believe it is a childs book ,therefore you hate Harry Potter,that is intresting.You seem to have issues about a child's book.Have you ever read a Harry Potter book?I don't think you'd hate him then.

Not to speak for clam, but I think people who hate HP but have not read the books are speaking of the HP phenomenon, rather than the actual books. I've not read them, either, I don't tend to follow the popular trends in literature. I am soul-numbingly weary of all the Harry hype, though, and am filled with gratitude by J.K.Rowlings' announcement that this is the end of the series.

I have to admit, it is kind of cool to see all these kids dragging these bigass books around with them, though. Gives me a ray of hope for the literacy of future generations.
