I agree with you. It's the same in the case of writers... they write first, and the title to come later.
I think the only ones who give title first before seeing their masterpieces in place are our parents :D While still in the womb, mother thinks of so many names... and more often than not, even before the baby gets out, he or she already has a name.
cheers! :)

Very well said. It may be of interest to you that this part of the world (Bangalore, India), it is the right given to mother's brother to name the child. But in the same thinking, the mother would have kept ready, the sweaters, nice clothes, the socks for the babyy to be born. Thanks for your interesting response.

yes,i really had an experience that when i started learning writing composition, it was the case. i wrote the body first, and then the title, because i can not concentrate on the main idea. so i thought that i would be better if i save the title to the last part. so i got a title according to the content of my composition.
aha, artist does in the same way? so----

Dear ssh123, I do not know much about paintings and do not possess sufficient knowledge to appreciate or depreciate an art. I have seen few paintings in our city and without my knowlege I said it is very good. Till date I used to wonder why I said that because other people who were gathered around did not tell much about this painting except me. They were appreciating different painting which I did not find any greatness. One thing I can say from common knowledge that any artits who wants to paint should have to concept as to what he is going paint.

Just think of the way how you start a new discussion and then you will probably find out the same case.
When I start a new discussion, sometimes I think of a topic first before I write in details. Sometimes I write down the details first before I write the title. It could be vice versa.
Therefore I don't think that we have a fixed mode. It is flexible to the majority of the people, I guess.
