Is rose symbol of love as in the category of flowers

I had seen most of love cards, love expressions the flower rose is given more importance, do you the colour the smell all other aspects of this plant and flower is perfect for expression for love. I do like rose as it is red is colour. May it is truely a love expressin symbol from the part of flowers.

rose is mostly known as the symbol of love in referral to its beauty and its red color. but i don't think that it has to be red rose to use as a love symbol, all types of the rose are really beatiful, have a really good smell and a long history that make them unique among the other flowers.
