We have had to take a friend of mine to the hospital
twice in the last month. We all thought she was having a heart attack.
Both times the doctor in the ER said it was only Panic Attacks.
This just started this past month and she doesn't even know why.
Nothing has changed in her life, so no one can understand these attacks.
Do you have any Idea what causes them? Have you ever had one?

I started my symptoms of the panic attack cycle back in 1978 just a year after I graduated college...it later got so severe that it became known as agoraphobia, and at one point I was completely housebound...I've since improved greatly and am no longer housebound but I have a way to go before I can start planning trips to Europe..LOL
My symptoms came out of the blue too, and to this day I still haven't a clue why they started...Stress can sometimes trigger it, also if one is prone to a blood sugar, especially low can trigger it..also, if there is a family history of "nervousness" can trigger it..flip a coin and it could be any one of reasons...
I've been listening to Lucinda Bassett's 15-tape (now on CDs too) program "Attacking Anxiety and Depression" and has helped me tremendously--I suggest maybe your friend should seriously consider getting these tapes or CDs...also, it isn't really necessary to take medications for anxiety...that is only a band-aid cure...one has to learn how to prevent the attacks, and a lot has to do with the power of the mind---really!
