Is chatting waste your time?

Some people in in country have time for chatting. They can chat from 6.00AM to 8.00PM!!! I think that how can they have so much time to do that thing? They do not do anything except for chatting. It is the same in your country?

I know of people that chat all day long. I like to chat about one hour a day because I learn a lot from talking with people from other countries.
