The farthest distance I'd ever taken was +- 40 kilometers. In 1991 I did a pilgrimage to a place devoted to Mother Mary. The shrine's called Sendangsono. People say that it's the Lourdes of Java! It's in Jogjakarta, a province of Indonesia. There were many friends along with me that made me felt no tired. We enjoyed the pilgrimage. What about you? God bless!

In India there is a custom to walk to the places of pilgrimage - people walk for 40 - 60 kms daily and reach their destination in 5 - 6 days, I have never done that but I do like hiking and I walk 10-15 kms every day when I go to some beach or the mountains for vacations.

I see... Mmmm... Javanese people (including me) have a spiritual tradition that's similar with yours since we have two famous epics too: Ramayana and Mahabharata. Some of us specially traditional ones usually do the same thing like your people do in the case of pilgrimage. You do hiking everyday for 10-15 kms away from your house? How healthy you are! (",) Thanks Dbhattji.

I have done two 30 mile walks in my time so far in two very different settings! One was in San Francisco...around the streets and coast...over the golden gate bridge and up to the fort on the other side. The other 30 mile walk was while I was studying in Wales, there is a challenge walk to climb the highest mountain in Wales (Snowdon) from sea level. It is 15 miles from the coast to the summit. Of course my car was still at the coast so I had to go back for it and sadly I only had one day so I couldn't camp...that was my other 30 mile epic! I believe 30 miles is 48 km
