Great, AFFORDABLE, (almost) self-cleaning litter box!  email this discussion to a friend?

Hi everyone! You may know that I have recently gotten two kittens! I really wanted a self cleaning litter box to avoid having a stinky house with my kitties. However, after reading the horror stories about how they break often and for the price of them, I decided that this would not be the best route for me. I hate scooping, and need to clean frequently because my pup loves to eat poop from the litter box (gross, I know, but I'm putting it up higher today so he can't get into the box)

I searched a bit online, and found the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning litter box ( http://www.petco.com/prod... ) Now, this litter box doesn't clean itself, let me just say that now. However, all you do is roll the litter box onto it's top, and the clean litter goes through a screen and the clumps stay on top and fall into a little drawer. Turn the box back to its normal position, pull out the drawer, and empty! (I empty it into doggie poop bags so I can just throw it out in my regular garbage) It's SO EASY TO USE and ACTUALLY WORKS!!!

As long as you make sure the keep the litter level at the max height, I have had no sticking to the walls. I use the Pet Gold cheapo little from Petco along with the Petgold litter deoderizor. I'm telling you...it's a great covered litter box, and cleaning the kitty box is not the terrible chore it once was for me. For the $30, it's well worth it. My house isn't stinky because I don't mind cleaning the litter box at all! LOL

Has anyone else used this product and gotten the same results? It's such a simple design, and I think that is why it works so well!

I had a look at it but can't see how it works... for that matter, I can't see the drawer, either...
I had one of those three tray ones where you lift the top one and the clean litter drops out leaving the poop and clumps. Then you turn the tray or something and put it on the bottom. It worked great from the start position but I could never figure out how to do it properly for it to work again without leaking.

It has a plastic screen inside, and when you roll it, the litter falls into that part and the clumps stay on top. When you continue rolling the box to its top, the clumps fall into a drawer (if you look at the pic it's on the right hand side) Then, when you roll it back, you just kinda shake it a bit to get the litter out from the screen (the screen is on the right side of the box vertically) It's really cool and hasn't leaked or made a mess once. Check it out at your local petco and you can see how it works.

I use natural pine pellets in a big litter box. There is no smell of urine at all. It works better than any litter, or any box. I have tried almost everything. You would never know that two cats lived in this house, as there is 0 odor.

I have tried that, as well, but it wouldn't work with this box. It has to be clumping litter. We do use feline pine for my ferrets, though.
