I watched this movie without reading the book and I was able to follow and understand it fine. Granted, I had to pay attention. It's not a movie that you could just pop in and leave the room perodically and still know what was going on. I do not understand why people think that it is so difficult to watch without reading the book. The movie provides enough information to allow the viewer to understand what it going on. However, to be fair I am going to read the book and see if I still feel the same. But, for those of you who wonder if you should read the book first I think that you can watch it and still understand what is going on.
