This is one of those movies that really sends a powerful message about family. The movie stars Chow Yun Fat and Gong Li, who are excellent. Be sure and watch the special features, as they are done well also. The costumes are impressive. I watched the movie in Chinese; however, its in English also. The movie has subtitles in English and French, so many people can enjoy it. I was impressed with how fast the flowers were put into rows and sure would like their help moving plants. The movie is rated R and not a good choice for children. There is a lot of violence. Be prepared and watch with the tissue box, as the Empress has to endure more than most of us could in our life.
