Can you suggest an alternative to Microsoft Word processing program?

Hawe you tryid textpad I am using it and it is greate I think and I am using it when I create web pages so it works with html code.

My favorite program (and it's free) is Open Office. It's basically a clone of Microsoft Word except it's free. It even can handle Microsoft Word documents. It includes an editor for spreadsheets, powerpoints, and many other things. It's probably about the better version of Microsoft Works.

Abiword , Open Office, K-office, Or you can use Google Docs for online word processing.
I have used Abi word and Open office both are free to download and use. If you want office suits like a full bundle of all the spread sheet, presentations, drawings, and word processing use Open Office. If you need simple word procesing use Abi word. If you wish to store your documents online without having any worry of getting lost while you OS crashes then use Google Docs.

There are plenty of Word processors available, from commercial software to freeware programs, so you can simply search via Google for "word processor".
Personally I consider Microsoft Word to be the leader in the field and I use it for a variety of purposes. If the version that you are using is too bulky for your system and demands too much system resources, you could try installing an earlier version. Microsoft Word 97 would still offer a rich variety of options and use much less space and resources.

Try OpenOffice.

I recommend using Open Office. I made the switch from Microsoft Word several months ago, and I couldn't be happier that I did. Open Office does everything that I've ever needed from it, plus a few things that Word doesn't do, like exporting documents as PDF files. It allows you to export documents as HTML files, too. The best part about it is the fact that it's 100% free to download and use.
