Firestone Christmas Album |
| |
| One of my friends is trying to find an album that her mother played every Christmas. She says that it was during the sixties. The only words that she remembers on the album is Firestone. She said that there were about eight people(men and women) on the cover. She says something about a snap shop picture. I helped her search for hours last night. We found some albums with red bows on the front by firestone, but she said that these are not it. They also mentioned Julie Andrews as a singer, but my friend says that Julie Andrews was no where on the album. I realize that this is a stab in the dark and most people will not know what in the world I am speaking of, but she really wants to hear this album again real bad, so I am trying to help her locate it. Any information that you can remember will be very helpful. Thank you. | | | | | |

| | Good new and bad! I found a Firestone album and it is only Julie Andrews. I am pretty sure I have an album like the one you describe but that one does not have a red bow on it, and I have to go looking for that one still. Here are the details for the one I found: Firestone presents Your Favorite Christmas Carols Volume 5 (one the top left side of the bow) Julie Andrews (top right) Collections album Custom Recording Featuring the Bells of Christmas Music by Edward Thomas Lyrics by Anne Croswell (bottom left) Andre Previn And The Firestone Orchestra And Chorus (bottom right) At the back, additionally: Arrangements by Andre Previn Side A: Band 1: Joy to the World Band 2: Irish Carol Band 3: O Little Town of Bethlehem Band 4: Deck the Halls Band 5: Angels from the Realms Band 6: Away in a Manger SIDE B Band 1: The Bells of Christmas Band 2: It Came Upon The Midnight Clear Band 3: Sunny Bank (I saw Three Ships) Band 4: God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen Band 5: Wexford Carol Band 6: Jingle Bells Created and Produced by Forrell & Thomas, Inc Conductor: Andre Previn Supervisor of Productions Richard M. Bradshaw A&R Supervisor Neely Plumb Recording Engineer Richard Bogert Production Manager Eleanor Fogelson Album Design: Copyright 1963, FT&P Assoc., Inc Contents: Copyright 1966, Forrell & Thomas. | | I think I found the one you need. It's Volume 4 apparently...according to finderskeepersvarietystore dot com. They have a number you can call to order. The web price is $1.00 - sounds like a steal! The number is 1-866-484-0772. I don't think you can order by phone, so you will have to visit the website to place the order. There is a picture of the album there and it mentions Julie Andrews and some other artists. If you go to the main site and do a search for Firestone volume 4, you will find it. This was not as hard as I thought it would be to find! :) | | | | | | |

| | This is so sweet of you. But she says that Julie Andrews is not on the album. This is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. Thank you so much for your help and if you come up with anything else, please let me know. I will check out all the information that you shared. | | | |

| | Oh....ohhhh!! I now realise what you mean. You're looking for an album that didn't have Julie Andrews on it. Ok. I think there is a website that might help. If you type in Google "Firestone" there's a website domain: FirestoneChristmasAlbum which offers all except volume 1. If it was done in the 60s most likely it could be somewhere between volume 2 or 3 or higher, because the Julie Andrews version was Vol 5 and it was done in 1966. I am sorry I couldn't help you. But I think that website should be able to provide you with what you need. You can call them at 1-866-357-2054. I think they offer the LP and the CD version of it, as far as I can tell from the website, so you probably just need to confirm with them which volume you need. Hope it all works out! | | | |

| | Well, unfortunatley I haven't fared any better so far. I looked on Rhapsody and they didn't have anything and then I tried searching on Google under 'Firestone Christmas without Julie Andrews'. I am going to try Yahoo for you too. | | | |

| | Thank you so much. I am starting to give up. I have told my friend to call her sister and ask her about the album, but she has not done that. She claims that her sister has a much better memory than she. But that she is two years younger. Unitl she calls her sister, I am done looking. | | | |

| | If I am remembering correctly Firestone put out a christmas album every year. My parents use to have several. I think Julie Andrews may have done one or two. Bing Crosby did some also. Good luck in your search. | | | | | | |

| | Thank you very much for the information. This is the first I have heard about Bing Crosby being a part of it. It is so funny because a psychiatrist told me once that a lot of Jewish people made Christmas music, even though they do not believe in Jesus. He said that Bing Crosby was one of those. | | | |

| | Volumes 1 - 7 of the Firestone Christmas LPs came out in the 1960's. However, Firestone continued to release Christmas LPs into the 1970's that had individual photos of about 12 different artists, and the LPs had different titles & covers each year. You can find these quite often on ebay. Dave | | | | | | |
