DIY Spa Treatments |
|
Well, today I decided to do some experimenting...
I wanted to make my own face mask, but I didn't have enough ingredients so I just rubbed some lemon on my face (hey, the website told me to!) and then used an old face mask I had lying around. My skin feels really soft now.. I am not sure if the lemon did anything, but it did sting a little.
I also thought while that was drying I would make a hair mask. I used some eggs and olive oil, put it in there and wrapped my hair up in saran wrap. Now my hair is really soft and feels light. I also washed it with dish soap, though (trying to make my dye fade.)
Then I thought while those are sitting on my face/head I would concoct a body wash out of brown sugar and lemon. I used it in the shower and my skin is soooo soft now. It smells really good too.
Okay so the point... do you know any DIY treatments like these? Have you tried any and how did they work?

You are genuinely beautiful as can be seen from your present photograph. I do like this one than the earlier two. So God has blessed you with an attractive face and other features. Preserving it in the proper way is very good.

14. book1962 (14571) | 3 years ago | That are super ideas, I didnt know about that and maybe I will try one or two. Something else as you mention lemon juice. When you want to prevent your hands from smelling of onion when you peel them, rub a good dash of lemon juice into your hands first before you start peeling the onions. It really prevents the smell from getting into your hands and I am doing this all the time before peeling and cutting them.

Using either sugar or salt with some liquid is a great scrub. Also, the lemon can help fade spots on the skin. Oatmeal is supposed to be good for oily skin. Egg whites are good for something, but I don't remember what. Probably it's good for oily skin too, as I can imagine it would soak up oil.
I have heard but I've never tried this. I read somewhere that strawberries can help whiten your teeth. Sounds kind of odd to me, but it might be worth looking into.

16. annkenline (257) | 3 years ago | I love to concoct my own stuff. My two favorite facials are 1) mix oatmeal with water - put on your face till dry and then take a hot towel and place it over your face. Skin feels great after. The other is using egg whites. Mix them up a bit and then put on face - again a warm towel to wash off.

18. mtdewgurl74 (10311) | 3 years ago | We have used lemon on our faces for years it helps fade freckles and brown spots. We have also used strawberries and cut inhalf and just rub all over face. We so have a oatmeal mask. We put in quick oats with a little egg white to make a thick paste then we slather on face and let almost dry then we take our hands and in circular motion we rub the oats off and it sloughs off dead skin cells as it comes off then we take a little bit of honey with a teaspoon of plain yogurt and dab of olive oil and smooth over our face for 30 minutes then we rinse off with warm water. Pat dry. then take a little olive oil on your finger tips and rub in on your face not enough to be a greasy feeling though and you will have smooth soft skin. Do this once a week. I have also heard of using corn meal with honey and egg whites. works just as well.. And to tighten pores take a piece of cloth put in some quick oats and a little 1/8 teaspoon of honey and tie it and put it in some warm milk and make the oats soppy in the cloth and squeeze excess milk out but leave gooing and put on your face, neck, body, it will tighten them pores nicely and then rinse with warm water. and pat dry dop not rub.

goodnightmoon (1975) | 3 years ago | Wow, thanks for all the ideas! I especially love the oatmeal one, sounds kind complicated but I'm willing to try it at least;)
And it's always better to pat dry than rub, yes? Rubbing just upsets the skin.

mtdewgurl74 (10311) | 3 years ago | Since I was little I was just taught to pat not rub. I am 33 years old and when people find that out they are shocked they say I could pass for 10 years younger. I try to take care of my skin like my mother and grandmother taught me that they were taught. So I hope you will enjoys these tips and maybe even use them and hope that you will get the results you want. It is always good to slough off old cells once a week no more then that really. But you can do the yogurt facial 3 times a week. and the pore tightener 2-3 time a week Well good luck and don't forget to pamper yourself and rub some olive oil onto your cuticles on your hands and toes.

| 19. write2adaline (89) | 3 years ago | I have a friend who swears by covering the hair in olive oil and letting it sit...almost like a hot oil treatment, but it isn't hot and its so much better for the hair because it is natural. I have also heard of the mayonaise treatment mentioned above but don't know anyone who has better results than with the olive oil.
