30 years the king is dead  

I was not born yet when Elvis died. But I do like his music, it can make me really happy. Even my daughter who is 6 likes his music, because of the cartoon Lilo and Stitch( they only use Elvis music in that cartoon)

Hello matte, So good to hear you honor Elvis. I remember the news the days he died, I cried. Of course I did not know him, but I loved him. Today I was thinking, 30 years... it seems like not THAT long ago, I'm sure you feel that way too :)
I loved that man (still do) he was my Mothers' age, but I would have married him if I could have.
I have most of his music with some exception (he had so many) We even had a record album that had the interview with him when he left for the army. I gave that to a young friend who collects records.
Some where put away in this house, (I can't find it looked the other day!) I have a 60's pull out of a fan magazine, poster size, that has his picture on both sides.
This is from when I was a young teen:) but it is like new condition.
As far as my favorites, there are SO many but I really can think how he sings "Love Me Tender", "Unchained melody" "Kentucky Rain" "Are You Lonesome Tonight?"**
* Really love that one.
One of the first movies he made when he acted like a real country boy, has always been my favorite as well.
He had so much potential (more) and loved his Mother so, I just can't say enough about him!
It was a shame for his family, his fans, the world we lost him. But we remember...

yes the king has been dead for thirty years now...i do not think that it has seemed like it has been thirty years since Elvis has died.

my favorite songs by Elvis are "Love Me Tender" and "Are You Lonesome Tonight".

i remember when Elvis died...but i was really young like around fourteen or so. hagd.

Hi matte, I remember the day very well. We were celebrating my brothers 13th birthday when we heard about his death. We were all
very sad to hear this news. My whole family really likes Elvis.
I have many of his songs.

My mom was a big fan of the king. I liked him but I was more into rock and roll.LOL I can remember the day he died I was getting ready to go out on a date. I can remember alot of it was on the tv and my mom was crying. I do think its a sad thing. But now he is at rest.

i was a baby when he died,i was just running around in diapers at that time lol but my mom was one of the biggest elvis fans.she had his music playing everyday.she collected all elvis stuff,as i got older i was so use to listening to that gender of music because of my parents,i really enjoyed it.one of my favorite songs is love me tender.that man knew how to perform and entertain any kind of audience.he was pure natural talent.take care

I was still small when he passed away. I didn't remember anything about hearing of his death announcement. I like his music too but I am not that great fan of him. I always listen to the cover-version of his songs. I think he was a great singer and it is hard to have someone as great as him.

He has to take a back seat to Frank Sinatra in my book.

I was only a year old when Elvis died. My mother is a big fan, so am I as a matter of fact. I remember asking my mom how she found out that Elvis had died. She was driving home from the grocery store with a friend. My older sister and I were in the back seat of the car and the radio was playing. They played 2 or 3 Elvis songs back to back. My mom said that she and her friend thought something was weird about that... at the end of the run of Elvis songs, they announced that he was dead. They were so upset they had to pull over and cry for awhile.

Ironically, we were living in Hawaii at the time.

Hi matte5!To be frank,I am not so familiar with him cause he died before I was born.For me,I only know several songs of him and the most impressive one is 'love me tender'.I thought its a great song and reminds me some sweet memories in my life.On the other hand,he is so lucky to be remembered by so many people,right?
