Will Indiana Jones 4 Be Better Than The Previous Three Indy Movie?

Indiana Jones will be back! Yes, production is now ongoing for the fourth Indiana Jones movie set for release next year. Indiana Jones, also known as Indy with the trademark bullwhip, fedora, leather jacket and fear of snake, will be portrayed once again by Harrison Ford. The last Indy movie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, was shown nineteen years ago. At 65 years in age, can Harrison Ford do all the running and stunts that he used to do in the last three Indy movies? Can the movie break the box-office records that three Indy movies did? Will the absence of Sean Connery, after his announced retirement in 2005, affect the box-office returns of the new movie? After nineteen long years, as advances were done in the technology of special effects, will the same team-up of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas produce a better movie?

I am indeed glad to learn that there will be an Indiana Jones 4 movie next year, because I love adventure movies that have an element of mystery in them. I have seen all the other three, and I am bowled over by them. I am especially delighted that Harrison Ford will star in this movie. To me, Indy movies are not the same without Harrison Ford. As to his age and whether he can be as agile as before, I've little doubt that the application of camera tricks, special effects technology and the use of stunt doubles will take care of that.

Yes, I agree that the special effects technology today is better than it is before and it can take care Harrison Ford's agility. Thank you for responding.

I sure hope so. I definitely enjoyed the previous 3 movies, and just loved it too bits. Harrison Ford was great in these movies, now if only Sean Connery was still going to be in the next one. But with better technology these, I'm sure it will be spectacular, but I just hope that they don't overdo the effects and make it seem too unrealistic. That was one of the great aspects of the previous movies, it was exciting, thrilling and seemed real.

Thank for your response. You're right, they shouldn't overdo the special effects.

Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain that the 4th Indy film will not live up to the prior trilogy. The age issue is one thing, but Harrison is in good shape still. He uses Body by Jake to get in shape for each film and runs his own ranch when he isn't filming. He's no slacker. So the physical part is not my biggest concern. My biggest concern is George Lucas' influence on the project. After the abominable Star Wars prequels I have lost faith in the vision and execution of the darling of the auteur movement. The re-work of the original SW trilogy also has me wretching still. Spielburg is by far my favorite director. He consistently produces a quality film. As long as George leaves him alone and he does his best the film will be good, but I don't think it will surpass the others.
