Advice with potty training a toddler?? | | my daughter will be three in November and im trying desperately to get her potty trained before this new baby comes which is in about 4 months. i let her pick out her own special potty she picked the princess's, we let her pick out her big girl panties she picked dora and care bears . she goes 11 hrs at night with a dry diaper and for awhile she was letting me put her right on the potty first thing in the morning but she out smarted me and now doesnt let me know shes awake until she did her morning pee in her diaper that way she doesnt have to use the potty. shes showing many signs of being ready, she hates a dirty diaper, she can go hrs on end at night and hold it the whole night, she knows when shes going she hides to poop and waits to pee in the am before getting me im at a loss any techniques that worked for you i would love to hear them ill give anything a try . my son was not this difficult adnd the techniques we used with him are just not taking effect on her. ANY HELP would be great Thanks!

Put it in a box that was decorated with wrapping paper...then everytime she went on the potty she got to pick something from the prize box. It got to the point that she would try to go potty more so she could get a prize. But we only gave her a prize if she went potty. And we told her that she couldn't get a prize like a big girl if she went potty in her diaper like babies do. It seemed to help her separate what a big girl and baby are too. I hope she gets potty trained soon!!

| | 2. StrawberryKisses (1661) | 3 years ago | Hi there your little one sounds like my son. He has just finally stopped hiding when he needed to poop and hes five. With my boy I am sure I started too early wth the potty training. My friend never tried to get her girl to train she just up and said one day that she wanted to use the potty and has never needed diapers and no accidents.
I really dn't think you want to get her trained before the baby is born. My son was pretty well trained before my daughter was born and as soon as she came he reverted back completely to wetting himself 3-4 times per day it was awful. My advice to you is to let her be until SHE TELLS you shes ready and not a minute sooner.
Hope this helps
